By Rubén Cougil y Javier Ferrer Backend y DevOps

Learn how to set up a stack to exploit all the information from your logs thanks to Elasticsearch, Logstash or Beats, and Kibana

In this course, we will see how to centralize logs with a very popular, powerful, and also free solution called Elastic Stack. This stack consists of four main tools: Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, and Beats. We will learn how to install, configure, and of course use them with flair and style 🕺

What will you learn in this course?

  • 🚀 Install and configure Elastic Stack thanks to Docker
  • **🤔 Understand the structure of information in Elasticsearch (types of nodes, how to configure a cluster, aggregations, transformations, and much more)
  • 🕵️ Perform complex queries to Elasticsearch with its Query DSL. Useful not only to search logs, but also as a full-text indexing engine! 🎉
  • 🐘 ☕ 🧬 Configure logging libraries in PHP, Scala, and Java to send your logs to Elasticsearch through Logstash or Beats
  • 📊 Visualize logs in Kibana by aggregating all the information into graphs to have a control dashboard
  • Replace Logstash with Beats for better performance and simplify your stack
  • 🐳 Considerations when using Elastic Stack with Kubernetes

🤝 We will do all this focusing on a practical case: Reporting all the information from our logs on any server in our ecosystem to centralize them and exploit that information in a unique Kibana Dashboard.

🤟 However, we highlight that in the course we will see the concepts on which Elasticsearch is based at the Document level, indices, types of nodes, cluster management, and more. In this way, with this knowledge we can set up our full-text search engine and item listing pages (products, users, courses…).
