Rex, the Superlogical terminal: persistent sessions, native Tailscale and tabs on the left
Superlogical is the company of Mitchell Hashimoto, the creator of Ghostty, Terraform and HashiCorp. Its first product is Rex, a terminal for local and remote sessions. The invitations arrive in waitlist order. Rafa gets his invitation the night before the stream, and he gets out of bed to test it.
Rafa's first impression: Rex is very beautiful. Unlike Ghostty, it has a settings menu. You can choose from many themes, turn the glass effect on or off and use a compact mode similar to Ghostty. For Rafa, the first reason to switch is simple: Rex lets you put the tabs on the left.
Rex knows what happens inside each tab. If you open Claude Code, the tab shows its icon. Like cmux, it also shows the port that each session uses. It does not have an integrated browser yet. But it has a native Tailscale integration: with one click, you access your server and open remote sessions.
Rex keeps tabs and sessions apart. Each session has a name, and you change sessions with a keyboard shortcut. If you close the app with Cmd+Q and open it again, everything stays in place. The reason: the desktop app is only a client of a server that keeps the sessions and the SSH connections. Watch in the video.
