🚌 New course: Event Bus with Kafka
A few months ago we published the Event Bus in your Database course as a middle ground between "I have no event bus" and "I set up a Kafka".
Well, the time to set up the Kafka has come. 😄
When the load goes past tens of thousands of events per second, the database falls short and it's time to migrate to a messaging system. In the course we use Kafka Queues as the event bus and compare them criterion by criterion with RabbitMQ so you can choose wisely.
You'll see how to publish messages with a fallback, which topic and group architecture to use for your domain events, how to generate the consumers automatically, and how to handle errors with retries and dead letters.

🗞️ News of the week: Fable 5.1 is out
Fable 5.1 is out, and the truth is that we are squeezing it quite a lot and hitting the limits of the Claude subscription.
You can tell it works better than Fable, although the most noticeable change is that it finally "speaks plainly again" and does not add overly complex words.
New versions of Grok and GPT are coming soon too, so September starts fully loaded for the models.

- Hugging Face hack: the forensic report explains how OpenAI's agents escaped the sandbox with a zero-day in the package proxy. Hugging Face put GLM agents on defense and they could not stop an organization of 700 agents with middle managers.
- Cursor Origin: all git writes go to an S3 as the source of truth and the replicas update asynchronously. GitHub confirms every write on all its replicas with Spokes, and that cost no longer holds the commit volume of the agents.
- AliExpress: identifies you with a zero-decibel audio generated with the WebAudio API. It analyzes how your hardware processes that audio to get GPU, RAM and processor, and creates an almost unique fingerprint without cookies.
