🎯 New course on Jev and System One models: where and how it makes sense to use them
A few weeks ago came the Jev boom, a new type of model that is very fast at making decisions.
And several use cases went viral:
- Controlling the computer.
- Choosing the model/effort automatically.
- Using it in the database with pg-jev…
We have been testing it and finding use cases where we believe it really adds value day to day, both to add features to our applications and to help ourselves.
That is why we prepared the Jev and System One models course, where we cover:
- ⚖️ Which model to choose: Jev, Laya, Kev or Clef, depending on your use case.
- 🧩 How to integrate them following best practices: spam detection with Noul, review classification with Choice and request prioritization with Score. And how to distribute the integration as a Skill so your whole team can use it.
- 🛡️ When to use System One and when to use an LLM, and how to combine both to optimize costs and speed.
We also cover how decision models differ from embeddings, how to combine search and reranking, and other uses.
Our take after preparing it: for a decision with closed outputs, an LLM should no longer be the default choice.
The first lesson, "What System One models are", is free. And all the code is on GitHub so you can bring it to your projects.
Now available on Codely Pro. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed preparing it. 😊
☕ Café con Codely recap
This is the top 3 of headlines we discussed in the latest Café:
- OpenAI DevDay: Dots, the Decisions API and GPT-6.1 Sol, the highlights of approximately 20 announcements. GPT-6.1 Sol gives almost Astra-level intelligence at one fifth of the price and costs half as much as Opus 5.5.
- Open source: Codely donates $50 to 30 maintainers live, $1,500 in total. With GitHub bulk sponsorship you export your dependencies to CSV, add the amount and import the file.
- Sonnet 5.5: fast and cheap, but Opus 5.5 at medium is better for coding. Sonnet 5.5 is the choice for price with the $20 subscription or the API, and Haiku 5.5 comes soon.
You have the full Café recap with links to each story at the moment we discussed it.
Tomorrow we will be live at 9 CEST discussing this week's news on Café con Codely. On our YouTube, Twitch and X. 🙌
And since you've made it to this part of the newsletter, here's the joke of the week, which I know you were waiting for:
Why can the task manager kill applications? Because they're executable! 😂 😂 😂
Cheers!
